Imagine a world where kids with blood cancer had safer, less toxic treatments. Where more of them would get better, and fewer would suffer harsh, chronic side effects in and after remission.
This March, Madison is partnering with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society - Central Valley Chapter Team Harmony.
We have pledged 50% of the proceeds from The Plein Air Painter’s 2 Day Workshop to directly benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Central Valley chapter: Team Harmony.

The Plein Air Painter's 2 Day Workshop with Madison Cowan Studio is designed for painters of all levels - art students, art professionals and beginners who wish to learn or refine establishing steps to begin an oil painting. Participants will gain hands-on experience with "open air" painting and working from life in a local environments in downtown Bakersfield.
Are you looking for some adventures this year? This 2 day workshop is the perfect taste to stretch any plein air creative. Mixed beginner friendly tips and tricks to enhance your creative toolbox and fall in love with plein air making.
All plein air materials provided. Ages 16+. Seats are limited.
I am Madison Cowan and my goal is to encourage you in growing your creative strengths and weaknesses, finding new innovative ways for all abilities to make, and cultivate that community together. I believe we are life long learners and capable of great creative works! I do not believe practice makes perfection. Practice makes progress. And that progress is so much better than any kind of perfection.
My passion is working with individuals of all learning differences, disabilities and exceptionalities. Because we are all capable of making great things!
I continue to learn and grow in myself and creative practice - every day is sweeter than the next, no matter how difficult life can become. You have to allow this essential investment in yourself to create with your hands, mind, body, and soul.

The Plein Air Club is a collective of Bakersfield artists and art lovers, who gather monthly in a location specific to Kern County.
Creating together outside, exploring different mediums, and building community.

March 29 Dreamshop
Get ready to unleash your inner textile artist at the Dreamshop Bandana Bonanza—a wildly fun, hands-on workshop where fabric meets imagination! Whether you’re a printmaking pro, a sewing superstar, or just here for the creative chaos, this session will have you stamping, stitching, and splattering your way to a one-of-a-kind bandana masterpiece.
We’re diving into the world of mixed media magic, using block printing, bold patterns, vibrant dyes, and playful embellishments to transform plain fabric into wearable art. You’ll learn printmaking techniques, experiment with textures and layering, and add finishing touches with sewing and fabric manipulation.
Perfect for beginners and seasoned makers alike—come solo, bring a friend, or make it a quirky date! By the end, you’ll leave with a unique, handmade bandana that screams you (or whispers, if you’re going for subtle chic).
Let’s get messy, get creative, and get those bandanas ready to turn heads!

March: The Painter's 2 Day Plein Air Workshop
The Painter's Workshop is designed for painters of all levels - art students, art professionals and beginners who wish to learn or refine establishing steps to begin an oil painting. Participants will gain hands-on experience with "open air" painting and working from life.
This is a 2 day workshop, sending 2 1/2 hours both days working outside with oils.
This workshop is limited to 5 seats. For ages 18+ -
Private Lessons
Come create in the studio through a private lesson. Customized for your current creative skill set.
For Youth ages 8+ and Adults.
Materials may include carving tools/knives, oil paints and spirits, graphic and drawing tools. Materials are provided by the studio and fees included in registration fee. -
Intermediate Drawing Classes
Come create in this small group styled class. Invest in your current creative skill set and expand your drawing skills. Working from real life objects, practicing shape, shading, composition and observational sketching.
For youth ages 12+ and Adults 18+. Materials provided.
